Amazon Mechanical Turk is a concept that is interesting, appealing, and annoying at the same time. The object here is to provide individuals and companies with small tasks such as review blogs, inspect websites, assist in providing feedback on products, or just give your opinion on almost anything. In return for your time, the requester will provide a nominal fee which on average is anywhere in between $0.01 to $5.
Each Human Intelligence Task (HIT) provides some type of direct input to the requester and allows the participant to show ownership of their work as well as claim their enormous fee. It's a rather neat concept, however, the problem is that if you get caught up in certain HITs the price you're paid is not worth all the time. Overall, instead of playing solitaire or getting addicted to freecell, it never hurts to make a little on the side.
